(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Ji-sun = Recently, a video uploaded by a Chinese TikToker imitating former President Chun Doo-hwan in Gwangju has sparked controversy. Professor Seo Kyung-deok of Sungshin Women's University criticized the act, saying it was "truly outrageous."
Professor Seo said on his social networking service (SNS) on the 25th that "the man uploaded a video titled 'Chun Doo-hwan has returned to Gwangju with heavy snow,' which is tantamount to mocking the citizens of Gwangju."
The man, wearing a jumper and military boots with his forehead exposed, was also seen waving a red stick in front of the National Museum of Gwangju, according to reports.
Professor Seo added, "I can't understand how someone could conceive of making a video that trivializes the historical pain of another country."

Professor Seo also recalled that on February 11th, some home fans of Shandong Taishan, a Chinese professional football club, provoked visiting Gwangju FC fans by holding up photos of Chun Doo-hwan and Kim Jong-un during the match. He emphasized, "These absurd actions by the Chinese people will surely make China an isolated country."
At the time, Gwangju FC demanded an official investigation and disciplinary action, saying it was "an act of mocking and belittling not only Gwangju but the entire Republic of Korea." Three days later, Shandong Taishan issued an apology.
