The results of the re-election for the Tongyeong mayoral election in Gyeongsangnam-do have confirmed the victory of Democratic Party candidate Kang Seok-ju by a margin of 38 votes. Although the initial difference was 44 votes, the outcome remained unchanged. Former mayor Cheon Young-gi of the People Power Party filed an election appeal, raising issues such as the sealing status of ballot boxes. The cost of the re-election, approximately 19.22 million won, will be borne entirely by former mayor Cheon. The Gyeongsangnam-do Election Management Committee is scheduled to decide whether to accept former mayor Cheon's election appeal by the 18th of next month.
