Today, I'd like to talk about vessels once.
But I'm not talking about rice bowls..
When we talk about a person's character, or what you'd call their nature..?
We talk about whether their vessel is big or small, right..?
What kind of people are those with big vessels..?
Humans are just one of many animals living on Earth
But how big could that vessel really be..?
In my opinion, the size of a person's vessel doesn't seem to differ much from person to person..
Looking at Buddhist teachings..
They keep telling us to empty something..
I haven't studied that much, so I'm not entirely sure what they mean by emptying, but
In any case, they keep saying to empty..
It seems like they say that's how you become happy and enter Nirvana..
The vessel that humans have
There may certainly be differences in size from person to person
But I think it's not that different..
But some people continue to empty their vessel..
And others might keep filling theirs..
If the size of vessels doesn't differ much
Then someone who keeps filling theirs will soon have no more room to hold anything..
Whereas someone who keeps emptying theirs will have plenty of space to fill with something else..
When it comes to people
They want to win against someone—money, power, or even a trivial game
Those who want to win and try to win
Unknowingly develop attachment..
Want to have something..
And the desire to have a little more than others will also lead to attachment..
But..
Where do these attachments go?
They go into the vessel within oneself..
Wanting to win, wanting to have more..
Don't these attachments make a person's vessel smaller..?
That's what I think..
Well, it's not cursing parents or the world falling apart or anything
It just seems easier to give in readily..
When you write on the internet, you see all kinds of people..
Some people won't forgive even a small slip of the tongue and want to fight..
While others gracefully overlook even great personal insults..
Depending on what's filled in the same vessel
It seems people are treated well by others or not, depending on this..
When I personally judge myself..
I think my vessel is probably medium-sized
The reason is..
First, I give up easily by nature, so I don't tend to be very attached to things..
Actually, if I had decent looks AND a big vessel too
The world would be too unfair, don't you think..
