Colnago unveiled a Colnago-esque style.
It's said that the development goal was to create the most aerodynamically efficient bicycle in the World Tour by making full use of the revised UCI regulations, and it is an aero bike Y1Rs in a pre-production form.
The Y-shaped handlebars, inspired by gull wings (gullwing), are attractive.
Colnago says that the V4Rs is a completely different aero bike with an aggressive design. The name Y1Rs comes from the Y-shape used in the frame and handlebars.
The handlebars are said to have both high aerodynamic performance and stiffness that can withstand the power sprints of sprinters.
It is said that CC.Y1 maintains high vertical/horizontal stiffness so that the handlebars do not deform even when used by sprinters while exhibiting excellent aerodynamic performance.
To achieve this, several carbon layer designs and headset concepts were tested, and the design with the highest stiffness was adopted.
Colnago said that test results showed that CC.Y1 had 16% higher stiffness than competing aero cockpits. CC.Y1 is expected to be produced in a total of 10 sizes depending on the width of the handlebars and the length of the stem.
The head tube appears narrow from the front, but when viewed from the side, it extends forward and backward where it meets the head tube cowl.
Having a dedicated cage can be both an advantage and a disadvantage.
From the side... it looks similar to the S5 from Cervelo.
Part of the downtube is brought close to the front wheel, and the remaining part is distanced by curving the top of the downtube in a wheel-like shape. The bottom part, which extends straight down, is kept away from the front wheel. It is said to be the result of efforts to maximize aerodynamic performance.
The Y1Rs frame weight is 965g in paint-ready condition (V4Rs is 798g), and the fork is 450g (V4Rs 375). You can use up to 32C tires,
The seatpost has two options: 0mm and 15mm setback.
The Y1Rs is scheduled to be supplied to Korea in spring 2025 in frame kit form... but I'm not sure how it will work out in Indonesia.
Personally, as a Cervélo and aero enthusiast... this is a model that interests me.
It seems like it will be good news for those who like Colnago.
