President Lee Jae-myung has carried out a major cabinet reshuffle to strengthen the government's operational capabilities. Kim Seung-won, a lawmaker, was nominated as Minister of Justice; Lee Hyung-il, 1st Vice Minister, as Minister of Economy and Finance; Hong Ji-sun, 2nd Vice Minister, as Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport; and Lee So-young, a lawmaker, as Minister of SMEs and Startups. In addition, Kang Shin-chul, former deputy commander of the Combined Forces Command, was nominated as Minister of National Defense, and Yong Hye-in, a lawmaker from the Basic Income Party, was appointed as Minister of Gender Equality and Family. This reshuffle also included appointments of opposition figures from across the political spectrum, including Kim Kyung-soo, former governor of South Gyeongsang Province, drawing attention.
