The consumer sentiment index for Korea in August fell by 2.3 points for the first time in four months, recording 104.5. The decline in stock prices and the rise in consumer prices are analyzed to have dampened consumer sentiment due to a worsening economic outlook. In particular, the current economic conditions index decreased for two consecutive months, recording 79. On the other hand, the housing price outlook index fell for the first time in five months, but still exceeded 100, indicating that many consumers expect house prices to rise in a year. The expected inflation rate over the next year remained at 2.7%, the same as the previous month.
