After the introduction of the additional payment system for survivor's pensions in National Pension, the number of recipients who choose their own old-age pension has overwhelmingly increased. Since 2007, when the system was revised to add a portion of the survivor's pension to the old-age pension, the current ratio of recipients choosing the old-age pension exceeds 90%. However, if you choose a survivor's pension, you will not receive your own old-age pension at all, and the duplicate payment rate is lower than other occupational pensions such as civil service pensions, leading to controversy over fairness. Therefore, the need for improvement of the National Pension survivor's pension system is continuously raised.
