A, a man in his 70s, claimed the weapon used to kill his wife was a symbol of their marital relationship and denied committing a planned crime in court. Although A argued that it was an accidental and impulsive act, the Seoul High Court sentenced him to 18 years in prison, the same as the first trial. The court ruled that A's argument could not be accepted because the weapon was prepared beforehand and actually used in the crime. It also considered that A showed an attitude of trying to shift responsibility to the victim.
