President Trump has ordered a reduction in US-South Korea joint military exercises, which is expected to lead to a decrease in the scale of the regular joint exercise 'Ulji Freedom Shield' (UFS). The Combined Field Training Exercise (FTX) is likely to be partially canceled or conducted solely by the South Korean military, and the counterattack operation exercise UFS 2 is expected to be canceled entirely. The exercise command center will also move from 'CP Tango' in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province to Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek, and plans are underway to adjust the exercise intensity level to comply with President Trump's directive. However, concerns are being raised that the reduction of UFS could lead to setbacks in the joint US-South Korea evaluation related to the transfer of wartime operational control.
