Kim Sang-ho, head of the Chun-chu Office at the Cheong Wa Dae, is embroiled in controversy over allegations that the first floor of his Seoul Gangnam-gu residence has been illegally converted into a studio apartment and rented out for profit. Kim claimed he was unaware that part of the parking lot had been converted into a studio apartment when he purchased the property and denied any involvement in direct extensions or instructions. He also admitted that he had delayed related procedures because he had been trying to sell the house since 2018, and expressed remorse for not completing necessary administrative procedures on time. Kim said he plans to pursue the yangseong-hwa process after consulting with architectural experts, citing Gangnam-gu's yangseong-hwa policy.
