The Korean comic 'Funeral Cake Specialty Shop Yeonokdang' won the Eisner Award for Best US Edition of International Material - Asia at the prestigious American comic awards. This is the first time a Korean comic has won an Eisner Award. 'Yeonokdang' is a fantasy graphic novel that tells the story of people who order cakes for the dead, and was translated and published in the United States in 2025. The Eisner Award, along with France's Angoulême and the United States' Harvey Awards, is considered one of the world's three major comic awards. With this win, Korean comics have now been recognized at all three: Angoulême, Harvey, and Eisner.
