The first round of primaries for the Democratic Party's next leadership election will be held on the 1st in the Chungcheong region. In the party leader race, which includes candidates Jung Cheong-rae, Kim Min-seok, and Song Young-gil, candidate Jung is expected to have an advantage in his hometown of South Chungcheong Province.
