A woman in her 40s who lives in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province, was indicted on charges of capturing and raising a wild crow for a week at home because she felt sorry for it. The court sentenced her to a fine of 700,000 won and suspended the sentence, considering that the woman reflected on her crime, was a first-time offender, and was not aware of the relevant laws. According to the Wildlife Protection Act, even if it is not an endangered species, capturing or killing wildlife arbitrarily is prohibited. Crows are classified as wild animals whose capture and collection are prohibited under the Wildlife Protection Act, and they have characteristics such as remembering human faces for a long time due to their high intelligence. Experts emphasize that wild birds should be allowed to live in nature and should not be captured by individual greed.
