It was back when I was actively meeting my wife-to-be for marriage..
I went to Korea on vacation and met my wife..
We liked each other and started dating,
but since our bodies were far apart in different lands, we mainly communicated by phone calls..
Finally, the next year, I took a vacation I had been waiting for,
and upon arriving in Korea, I met my wife again immediately..
One day while spending vacation like that..
my wife asked me to come play at her house..
Since my wife's house was only about 30 minutes away by car from our house..
I said 'okay' and headed to my wife's house..
When I arrived at the house, my father-in-law and mother-in-law weren't there, and my wife was alone..
It was winter at the time, so it was a bit cold..
I was sitting in the lower part of the heated floor, covered with a blanket, watching TV,
when my wife suddenly asked if I was hungry..
Normally, when someone asks if I'm hungry, I habitually say I'm not..
But she kept asking..
So I asked her to make me a bowl of ramen if she had any,
and she said they didn't have ramen, only Jjapagetti..
She said she would make Jjapagetti for me..
I said 'okay'..
I was watching TV in the lower part of the heated floor..
The aroma of Jjapagetti stimulated my salivary glands..
A moment later..
At my wife's words that the Jjapagetti was done,
I went to the living room..
Actually, I was a bit hungry..
I sat at the dining table to eat the Jjapagetti..
In that moment..
I was a bit...no, quite...shocked..
Looking at the Jjapagetti and then at my wife..
she was looking at me with sparkling eyes, as if to say 'Why aren't you eating it quickly'..
But I..
actually thought 'Should I eat this or not'..
So I gently asked my wife without hurting her feelings..
'You've never made Jjapagetti before, right?'
She nodded..
So..
considering it was her first attempt to make it..
I ate the Jjapagetti very 'deliciously'(?)..
Generally, Jjapagetti is made by putting noodles in boiling water
and when the noodles are fully cooked, you drain the water..
But..
the Jjapagetti my wife made
was just...black-colored ramen..
In other words, it was 'water Jjapagetti'..
Since she said it was her first attempt, I couldn't not eat it..
I still can't forget that truly bland and mysterious Jjapagetti taste..
Over 10 years have passed since we got married..
Now we even have two children..
My wife makes kimchi at home..
I say she can just buy it~can just buy it~
I've even held onto her skirt and clung to her,
I've even pleaded with tears, but..
she keeps making it..
Fortunately, I'm not a gourmet type and I'm of the opinion that as long as I'm full it's fine, so
I don't know if I could have endured for over 10 years otherwise..
But..
after eating my wife's homemade kimchi for over 10 years,
I don't know if my taste changed..
or if my wife's skills improved..
but whenever I buy kimchi from a famous traditional house,
I even have the 'illusion' that my wife's kimchi tastes better..
So it seems everyone is like this..
saying their own mother's food is the most delicious..
