Freedom from monitor sickness (screen shake)!!!

Even though I'm not originally someone who likes static things, ... I think my calling is a developer, so I spend a relatively long time sitting at my desk.   When I was younger, I didn't have any desk envy, but as I got older, I started to crave one.

Raising four sons means that having my own space is a luxury, but I still wanted a place to type.

While doing the interior design of my house, I had an island table custom-made in the kitchen and covered the top with artificial marble. Since I purchased all the materials myself, I had a lot left over.   One of the marble countertops was 320cm x 160cm in size, and after making the table, I had a piece of marble that was 320cm* 60cm left over.   I decided to make a long desk and bought desk legs from IKEA. I carefully put it all together.

The photo is wide-angle, so... considering that the left monitor is a 32-inch and the right monitor is an ultra-wide 38-inch... it's not small.   I connect my wife's sometimes-used MacBook and the home CCTV to the left monitor, and I use the right monitor for myself. I have a Mac Studio hidden under the desk.

The problem was that even though I balanced this long desk carefully and used a monitor arm, the slightest impact would make it shake, causing motion sickness.   Even though the desk was long... no matter how precisely I leveled it, I couldn't stabilize it without fixing it to the wall.

It seems like a limitation of the IKEA desk legs.   Structurally, to avoid shaking, it needs to be fixed in an X shape at the back, but there's no way to do that.

In the end, I had to find another solution besides permanently fixing the desk to the wall.

I found this item on Tokopedia by utilizing the skills of a craftsman... The original purpose was to adjust the height of the desk legs, but I bought it intending to use it at a 90-degree angle to stabilize the desk.

If you separate them like this and stick them on...

It becomes like this. After the assembly is complete, attach it to the desk and wall with a certain interval.

In my case, since the length is over 3m, I attached four of them and inserted them between the desk and the wall.

The result is ?? Very satisfied !!!

Since I'm a power typist... My typing alone makes the desk shake... But the shaking was almost completely eliminated. There are no more motion sickness symptoms caused by desk shaking, and since the monitor doesn't shake, it reduces eye fatigue. It's a double benefit effect that solves the problem with less than 10,000 won.

Desk motion sickness is more tiring than I thought... I didn't know it could be solved so easily. I recommend trying it for those who are struggling with desk shaking.

Now all that's left is to work hard, right? ㅎㅎㅎ
