This came after Yoon's instructions to consider using firearms were met with internal opposition.
Democratic Party lawmaker Yun Gun-young held a press conference at the National Assembly on January 13th and said, "There have been continuous reports that President Yoon, hiding in the Hannam-dong residence, has urged security personnel to use weapons."

Yun continued, "On January 12th, President Yoon had dinner with six security service officials and reportedly brought up the issue of using weapons again. He instructed them to 'carry knives, even if they can't use guns, and block any police officers attempting to arrest me.'" Yun added that Kim Sung-hoon, head of the presidential security detail, Lee Kwang-woo, head of the security headquarters, and Kim Shin, head of the family affairs department, along with three other security officials were present at the dinner.
Previously, Hankyoreh reported exclusively on an internal leak from the Presidential Security Service revealing that President Yoon instructed security personnel to consider using force in case of a second arrest warrant being issued by investigative authorities. Yun's illegal instructions reportedly continued the following day.
Yun stated, "The whistleblower provided information only accessible within the Presidential Security Service, such as the names of attendees, confirming the authenticity of the report."
Yun urged President Yoon to "immediately clarify to the public whether he issued these illegal instructions."

Yun also revealed a whistleblower report alleging that Kim Sung-hoon, head of the security detail, instructed security personnel to purchase clothes for the First Lady's pet dogs and boast about them, engaging in activities unrelated to their duties.
Yun appeared on MBC's "Kim Jong-bae's Focus" and revealed a whistleblower report stating that Kim Sung-hoon instructed security personnel to purchase clothes for the First Lady's pet dogs. Yun said, "There were reports that they even embroidered the emblem of related agencies onto the dog clothes." This suggests that President Yoon and his wife gifted dog clothes with the Presidential Security Service emblem.
Yun stated, "During President Yoon and his wife's vacation, security personnel were reportedly mobilized for personal errands such as setting up karaoke machines or purchasing fireworks. There are numerous reports of security personnel being used for these private matters." He added, "The most shocking report was that security personnel were forced to perform a kind of talent show on the President and First Lady's birthdays."
Last week, the High-ranking Public Officials Crime Investigation Office, which reissued an arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk-yeol, a suspect in the crime of rebellion, is struggling to establish an execution plan and finalize legal review while contemplating the timing of re-entering the presidential residence. Meanwhile, on the afternoon of the 12th, the area around the Hannam-dong residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, was shrouded in darkness.
On this day, Rep. Yoon also released a text message sent by an internal staff member of the Presidential Security Service.
The staff member said, “The Presidential Security Service personnel have endured the current poor working conditions with a sense of duty as public servants in order to preserve at least the minimum self-respect of President Yoon Suk-yeol. However, the fact that President Yoon instructed them to use weapons to prevent his own arrest has caused great disappointment and disbelief among the security personnel who are protecting him.”
He continued, “Not only the Presidential Security Service personnel but also the police officers who will re-execute the arrest warrant are heads of households and proud sons and daughters of someone. We believe that protecting the lives of the people of the Republic of Korea is the duty and obligation of the president. The Presidential Security Service believes it is fulfilling its duty and obligation to the protectee. Please stay away from the strong leadership of the Presidential Security Service, which is blocking President Yoon's eyes and ears, and listen to the cries of the people.”
