Everyone has a scent..
Not body odor or anything like that..
Human scent..in other words, there seems to be such a scent that emanates from that person..
When I was young, my nickname was dog nose..and when I got a bit older, it was dog sense..
So that's why I have a good sense of smell..
Some people look so convincing and gentle, yet they emit a foul odor, while on the other hand..
There are people who look plain and unremarkable, yet I somehow want to be close to them
and emit a subtle scent..
That seems not to be felt through that person's words..
Like me, words and writing tend to be somewhat exaggerated and rationalized, so
Through experiencing touching actions from being by someone's side for many years..from such things
I think that's where such a scent comes from..
During Beomjeong Snim's lifetime..
There was a monk who trained with him for about a year..I don't quite remember his dharma name..
One day, it seems they were on a bus together going somewhere..
But suddenly, the monk with him took out something like a pocket knife from his pocket..
And he tightened a loose screw that was attached to the bus window..
He said he was deeply moved by witnessing this..
Actually, who would pay attention to a screw on a bus window that people only ride once..?
But that monk saw it and put it into practice with his own hands..
Of course.. you saw me tightening the screw..? You did see it..?
He probably didn't say that..
Such small acts of kindness accumulated one by one
And I think they created that monk's fragrance..
But if it had been me..
If I had made eye contact with Beomjeong Snim while tightening the screw
I think I would have been like this..
Don't just look at me; you tighten it a bit too..
