The drinking water of a naval unit stationed on Baekryeong Island was deemed unfit after water quality tests showed that the boron level exceeded the standard. The Navy requested a retest after replacing the basic filter, but the boron concentration was found to be twice the standard. Currently, soldiers are drinking bottled water purchased from stores, and the Navy plans to replace the membrane and activated carbon and conduct additional water quality tests. The Baekryeong Island unit does not have access to civilian water pipes and uses a seawater desalination facility, but it is experiencing difficulties in water management. The Navy plans to install reverse osmosis purifiers and improve water supply facilities in island regions, and is also making efforts to connect to civilian water pipes.
