Somyung Lee, nominee for Minister of SMEs and Startups, has no record of initiating key legislation under the purview of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups during her time as a National Assembly member. Her legislative activities focused on climate, carbon neutrality, taxation, finance, intellectual property, and also included regulations concerning small and medium-sized enterprises and self-employed individuals. Notably, bills related to import bans and restrictions on participation in overseas coal-fired power plant projects drew criticism from relevant industry groups. Sujin Choi, a lawmaker of the People Power Party, pointed out that Somyung Lee did not initiate any legislation to support self-employed individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic and that it would be hypocritical for someone who spearheaded new regulations to assume the role of 'Minister of Regulatory Reform'.
