Indonesia has proposed expanding annual imports of US energy and agricultural products to a maximum of $19 billion in trade negotiations with the United States. The goal is to address the trade surplus with the US and reduce the impact of high tariffs. Indonesia has also pledged to ease non-tariff barriers, including streamlining licensing procedures for US companies and providing incentives. In return, Indonesia is demanding competitive tariff benefits for major export items such as textiles, furniture, and shrimp. The two countries plan to conclude all negotiations within 60 days.
