The Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK), the Korea Export-Import Bank labor union opposed the government's plan to relocate national policy banks to local areas and held a large rally in Yeouido on the 11th. About 2,000 people participated in the rally, arguing that relocation would weaken financial competitiveness and have a negative impact on the national economy. The union cited the problem of personnel attrition and internal conflicts that occurred during the previous Busan relocation, pointing out the problems of the relocation policy. Kim Hyun-jung, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, emphasized that investment in policy funds for local businesses is more important than relocating the headquarters of national banks. The financial labor union plans to hold a vote on whether or not to engage in strike action on the 12th, and there is also a possibility of a strike early next month.
