You can now stream PS5 games on Steam Deck without a console

While it's been a while since the Steam Deck was released, this maturity has meant that there are now many software projects supporting the device with interesting and new features. The latest addition is an application recently made available on the Steam store, which will bring PlayStation Cloud game streaming to the handheld for the first time.
This app, described by its developers Insight Internet as an independent remote streaming client for the PlayStation ecosystem, is called Asobi Remote Play. The app allows streaming from both PS4 and PS5, with its most powerful core feature being that users only need to be subscribed to Sony's PS+ Premium tier to stream games from the cloud. Until now, the only way to stream games this way was to purchase a PlayStation Portal handheld designed specifically for this task.
During the playtest period, all feature sets will be available, but after the official release, a free core tier with an in-app purchase will be offered to unlock all features, including PlayStation game cloud streaming for users without consoles.

The free version includes streaming PS4 or PS5 within the home network or over the internet at a maximum resolution of 1080p, 30fps and SDR. It also supports automatic bitrate adjustment, multiple user profiles, and device-to-device user data synchronization.
Users who choose the in-app purchase can stream at a maximum of 1080p 60fps in HDR environments. They will also have access to manual bitrate control, controller haptic feedback, built-in gyro support, up to 4K upscaling support, 120fps on displays, and an experimental FEC mode that improves stability over unstable Wi-Fi networks.
This is big news for Steam Deck owners who want to access PlayStation's vast catalog of excellent games, especially since Sony has decided not to release new games on PC anymore. While the developers haven't announced an official release date for the app, interested users can already participate in the ongoing playtest.
