American conceptual artist Glenn Ligon's first solo exhibition in Korea, 'Black Moon,' will be held at the APMA Cabinet in the Seoul Amorepacific headquarters. Ligon follows the form of traditional white Joseon porcelain but creates it with black clay, reversing familiar grammar while incorporating cultural critique. His representative works, the 'Static' and 'Reactivated' series, are based on the writings of American author James Baldwin, and explore the limitations of language and erased history through the act of erasing letters. Through this exhibition, Ligon poses the questions: 'What can we see?', 'What can we read?', and further, 'What can we say?'. The exhibition runs until September 5th.
