The ruling and opposition parties each recommended six members to the National Recommendation Committee for the special prosecutor of the National Election Commission. The Democratic Party of Korea recommended lawyers Cho Doo-hyun and Jo Ki-yeon, and Professor Ha Sang-eung of Sogang University, while the People Power Party recommended lawyer Kim Yong-guan, lawyer Choi Chang-ho, and Professor Cha Jin-a of Korea University. They are expected to participate in the process of selecting a special prosecutor for the National Election Commission to investigate the shortage of ballot papers in the June 3 local elections. The National Recommendation Committee is composed of six members, three recommended by each party, and recommends two candidates from among those recommended by the Korean Bar Association and the Council of Law School Graduate Schools to the president. The president appoints one of them as a special prosecutor for the National Election Commission.
