Malaysia Airlines pilot Mr. A was caught trying to smuggle drugs while on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Jakarta. He hid approximately 70,000 ecstasy and philopon pills in his luggage and tested positive for drugs in a urine test. Mr. A confessed that this incident marked his third offense, having previously smuggled drugs twice. Indonesian customs authorities are concerned that special regulations regarding airline crew baggage could be exploited for drug smuggling.
