A pair of Qing Dynasty Arhat statues from the Gansong Art Museum collection has been donated to China. Gansong Jeon, who purchased these Arhat statues at a Japanese auction in the 1930s, expressed his wish during his lifetime that they be returned to their original location as Chinese cultural artifacts. Accordingly, the Gansong Art Museum collaborated with the National Museum of Korea to proceed with the donation process, and a donation agreement was signed at a summit meeting between Korea and China. The Arhat statues were safely transported to China, where they will be restored by experts and exhibited at a national museum in China by the end of the year. The Gansong Art Museum plans to install 'Seokhosang,' a 19th-century Korean stone sculpture, in place of the Arhat statues.
