Rhabdomyolysis is a condition in which skeletal muscles in the arms and legs are damaged due to excessive exercise, leading to the destruction of muscle cells. It is particularly risky for individuals who do not usually exercise to suddenly engage in high-intensity workouts. Rhabdomyolysis is accompanied by severe muscle pain, muscle weakness, swelling, and other symptoms. Suspicion should be raised if urine turns brown or cola-colored. Treatment involves intravenous fluid administration, and hemodialysis may be necessary if it progresses to acute renal failure. To prevent rhabdomyolysis, it is important to gradually increase exercise intensity and, especially during the summer months, to ensure adequate water intake.
