Domestic middle-aged and elderly people leave their main jobs at an average age of 52, but tend to want to work until the age of 73, resulting in a gap of about 13 years without income. This is because it is difficult to sufficiently support retirement life with current pension income. Due to the overwhelming number of involuntary retirements, middle-aged and elderly people choose re-employment, and about 80% succeed in re-employment within two years after leaving their previous jobs. However, for those in their early 70s, there is a problem of poor job quality, such as an increase in contract work. The status and level of national pension receipt also affect re-employment, and the higher the pension benefit amount, the lower the probability of re-employment tends to be.
