Financial complaints in the first half of 2023 totaled 78,979 cases, a 39.5% increase compared to the same period last year. In particular, complaints in the financial investment sector surged by 86.1% due to the SpaceX public offering allotment controversy and the booming stock market. Mirae Asset Securities saw a 474.3% increase in complaints related to the SpaceX subscription, while asset management companies received a significant number of complaints regarding excessive advertising for inclusion. Banks experienced an increase in complaints related to voice phishing and deposits, while small and medium-sized consumers faced more complaints about bond collection. The Financial Supervisory Service attributed the temporary surge in complaints to increased consumer awareness and predicted stabilization in the second half of the year.
