On Friday night, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency underwent a sweeping reshuffle, with 51 senior officials including the head of the investigation bureau, head of security investigation, and head of the metropolitan investigation task force being replaced. This represents a large-scale personnel change affecting more than half of the positions. Choi Jong-sang, the investigation bureau head of North Chungcheong Police Agency, was transferred to head the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's investigation bureau, while Kim Jong-min, head of security investigation, and Oh Seung-jin, head of the metropolitan investigation task force, were reassigned to other positions. Additionally, senior officials implicated as parties in allegations of external pressure in customs drug investigations also changed positions. This reshuffle is interpreted as an effort to strengthen the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's investigation system and restore public trust.
