The National Police Agency plans to launch a dedicated task force for police reform next week and push forward with fundamental police reforms. Acting Commissioner Kim Jong-cheol instructed that field staff should receive sufficient education in September to clearly understand and implement the revised Criminal Procedure Act. He also ordered a review of personnel systems to prevent the outflow of outstanding investigative personnel, and urged support for focusing on field work by eliminating unnecessary tasks and unreasonable performance demands in the field. Acting Commissioner Kim emphasized that the core role of the police is to protect the lives of citizens, and stressed the need for organic linkage not only in crackdown and investigation but also in crime prevention, victim protection, and post-support.
