Lotte Card has recently fallen victim to a hacking attack, resulting in a data breach of customer information. External attackers infiltrated the online payment system starting from the 12th of last month, installed malware, and leaked customer data between the 14th and 15th. Lotte Card did not initially detect the hacking incident until 17 days after it occurred, and reported it to the Financial Supervisory Service on September 1st. Approximately 200GB of customer information was leaked due to the hacking, and Lotte Card has decided to provide compensation in the form of 10 months of interest-free installments and other benefits. Financial authorities plan to impose maximum-level sanctions on Lotte Card, and are also working to identify the hacking group and determine their motives.
