Google has agreed to remove South Korean military coordinate information from Google Maps and apply blurring to security facilities at the request of the Korean government. This is related to Google's application to the government for overseas export of South Korea's high-precision map data. Two previous export requests were rejected due to concerns about military information leaks, but this time Google aims to obtain approval by using the national basic map with sensitive information excluded and promising additional security measures. Google has strengthened cooperation with domestic partners including T-map and argued that map data export will have a positive impact on the Korean economy. The Korean government plans to make a final decision on Google's export request by November 11.
