Strava, the world's largest sports app, has halted its service in the South Korean market. The Ministry of Broadcasting and Telecommunications and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) pointed out that Strava was accessing users' phone microphones and other features without consent, and demanded the company modify its functions. However, Strava could not accommodate these demands and has withdrawn from the Korean market. Strava has also discontinued service in China, North Korea, Cuba, Russia, and Belarus. Following Strava's withdrawal, Korean users are facing difficulties such as losing their workout records or having to find alternative apps. Strava has previously faced controversy over security issues, including the disclosure of U.S. military base locations.
