The coastal region of Gangwon Province experienced concentrated heavy rainfall of up to 80 mm per hour from 8 a.m. on the 8th, resulting in road flooding and isolation of evacuees. In Gangneung, Yonggang-dong recorded a maximum hourly rainfall of 81.4 mm, and roads in Sacheon-myeon, Gyo-dong, Jungang-dong, and Jibi-dong were flooded. In Inje, 27 evacuees were isolated due to the swollen valley stream, but they were all rescued by the fire department. The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasts that more than 150 mm of rain will fall in the coastal areas and mountainous regions until the 10th, urging people to refrain from approaching valleys and rivers and to be cautious of safety accidents.
