Former Cape Verde national team coach Bubista has been appointed as the new head coach of Moroccan professional football club RS Berkane. Coach Bubista led Cape Verde to the Round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup, creating a 'World Cup sensation'. He drew with Spain and Uruguay and finished second in the group undefeated, but lost to Argentina in the Round of 32. The Cape Verde Football Association expressed its gratitude for Coach Bubista's contributions and said it is currently working on appointing a new national team coach. Coach Bubista had planned to continue as head coach of the Cape Verde national team while leading Berkane, but ultimately decided to make a fresh start at Berkane.
