Gyeonggi Province has preemptively activated the emergency level 2 response system as a severe heat warning has been issued for all seven cities and counties. With the activation of emergency level 2, the disaster situation room will have a joint task force and support departments working together to intensively manage issues such as the occurrence of heatstroke patients, protection of vulnerable groups, and damage to agriculture and fisheries. Governor Chumi Ae of Gyeonggi Province has instructed the suspension of outdoor work at public construction sites and actively recommended it to private businesses as well. She also urged living support organizations and local autonomous disaster prevention committees to strengthen surveillance and safety checks on vulnerable groups such as field workers and elderly people living alone. A severe heat warning is the highest level of alert that can threaten the lives of residents, so outdoor activities should be avoided and the safety of vulnerable groups should be confirmed.
