The ruling and opposition parties clashed in the plenary session over a bill to abolish the prosecution's supplementary investigative power. The Democratic Party argued that separating investigation and indictment would prevent abuse of prosecutorial power and strengthen victims' rights. On the other hand, People Power Party criticized that the supplementary investigative power is important for protecting victims and that this amendment bill is intended to dismiss the indictment of President Lee Jae-myung. The Democratic Party plans to put the bill to a vote through filibuster, and the People Power Party has also threatened filibuster against the National Assembly law revision bill.
