In the record low water levels of Bulgaria's Danube River, mammoth bones from the Ice Age have been discovered. According to the Bulgarian History Museum, bones presumed to be a lower jaw, tusk fragments, scapula, and femur were found, suggesting they belonged to a young woolly mammoth that spent a long time in a swampy environment. Woolly mammoths are known to have coexisted with early humans, serving as both prey and a source of tools. The mammoth bones were accidentally discovered by a villager and subsequently recovered by museum experts. The Danube River has been recording historic low water levels due to recent drought.
