A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck off the west coast of Kyushu, Japan, and tremors were felt in southern regions of South Korea. In Busan, South Gyeongsang Province, Pohang and other areas, residents evacuated buildings in a panic, and reports came in from people who felt the shaking in North Gyeongsang Province, Chungcheong Province, and Incheon. According to the Ministry of Public Administration and Security and the Fire Service, a total of 789 reports of earthquake tremors were received, but no significant damage was reported. The Gori Nuclear Power Plant and Wolsung Nuclear Power Plant are operating normally, and the South Sea Regional Maritime Police Agency has stated that there has been no ship damage so far.
