Next year's median income will be increased by 6.7% to 4,692,985 won for a four-person household. This is the highest increase rate since the determination of median income in 2015 and is an effort by the government to address the recent difficulties faced by lower-income groups. A new calculation method has been introduced that reflects major economic indicators such as the consumer price index and GDP, in order to improve time lag issues and enhance predictability from the existing calculation method. This decision will be applied for three years.
