Dutch football legend Mark van Bommel has been appointed as the new head coach of the Belgian national football team. Van Bommel succeeds Rudy Garcia, who led the team to the quarter-finals of the 2026 North and Central America World Cup, and will lead the team until the 2028 European Championship. Van Bommel built a brilliant career during his playing days at PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, and as a manager, he achieved a 'double' by winning both the league title and cup competition with Royal Antwerp. Van Bommel expressed his determination to raise the potential of the Belgian national team and make it a world-class team.
