The National Election Commission (NEC) staff are suspected of manipulating election management system statistics to cover up the incorrect entry of voter turnout in the June 3 local elections. Investigative authorities conducted a search and seizure of the NEC offices in Gyeonggi Province and Seoul, securing related materials. While some NEC staff admitted to the manipulation, they argued that adjusting only the final voter turnout rate would suffice. However, investigative authorities deem this argument unconvincing. Furthermore, suspicions of statistical manipulation have also emerged in Chungcheong Province, raising the possibility of the investigation expanding nationwide.
