Two police officers who poorly responded to the 2021 Incheon inter-floor noise weapon rampage incident appealed against the first instance verdict in a lawsuit for damages filed by the victim's family. The first instance court ruled that the police officers and the state should jointly pay approximately 350 million won to the victim's family. The female victim was stabbed in the neck with a weapon and underwent brain surgery. The police officers who were dispatched to the scene at the time did not stop the crime and left the scene, committing dereliction of duty. Police expressed deep regret for the poor response and said they would pay compensation to the victim's family according to the final court ruling and review the exercise of disciplinary action against those responsible.
