Son Chang-wan, former president of Korea Airports Corporation, was found dead at his residence in Gyeonggi Province. Former President Son served as president of Korea Airports Corporation during the 2020 Muan Airport localizer upgrade project. During this project, the antenna section was designed to break easily, but the concrete berm remained in place. This concrete berm has been identified as a major cause of the Jeju Air disaster. Former President Son, a former police officer, ran in the 2016 general election but lost before serving as president of Korea Airports Corporation. Police are investigating the circumstances of his death.
