As the era of satellite communications approaches, T-Mobile's next-generation satellite communication service 'Direct-to-Cell (D2C)' has been commercialized for the first time in the United States in response to the LA wildfires. Unlike Starlink, D2C is a technology that transmits satellite signals directly to smartphones, and is expected to improve convenience and accelerate global commercialization. In Korea, the launch of Starlink satellite communication service is scheduled for the second quarter of this year, and B2B services such as in-flight Wi-Fi provision are expected to be prioritized for low-cost carriers (LCCs). Additionally, the government plans to begin developing its own satellites with a target launch date of 2030, and satellite communication is gaining attention as a non-terrestrial network (NTN) technology for implementing 6G.
