Anthropic, the developer of the AI model 'Claude,' is reportedly in discussions with Samsung Electronics about AI chip production.
Anthropic has begun initial stage work for its own AI chip development and is holding consultations with potential manufacturing partner Samsung Electronics, according to US information technology (IT) specialized media outlet Digitimes, citing multiple sources on July 2nd (local time).
Anthropic is reportedly considering utilizing the 2nm (nanometer) manufacturing process and advanced packaging facilities of Samsung Electronics Foundry (semiconductor consignment production) business unit.
In response to a request for comment, Anthropic stated that Nvidia's graphics processing units (GPUs), Google's TPUs, and Amazon Web Services (AWS)'s 'Trainium' chips will continue to play a central role in its computational resources. However, the company declined to provide further details about its future plans.
Samsung Electronics refused to comment on the matter.
