- Here are three thoughts that came to mind.
1. Running muscles don't seem to help with cycling at all.
1.1 It seems like you need well-developed calf muscles to run fast and smoothly.
1.2 Since I already developed my glutes, hamstrings from cycling, cycling puts more strain on the muscles.
1.3 The sartorius muscle seems to be involved when running, but it's also developed from cycling, so it doesn't seem too strenuous.
2. Benefits for heart rate and mentality
2.1 I don't know if it's self-justification, but I don't push myself to the limit when riding.
2.2 I often ride in zone 2~zone 3 for long distances.
2.3 However, when running, my heart rate is high in zone 4, and I see a lot of videos where people pull their full potential in zone 4 during 10km runs.
3. Conclusion
3.1 It helps with zone 4 heart rate and mentality.
3.2 If you overdo it, damage can accumulate in your knees and calf muscles (they say you don't need ankle strength), which will be a minus.
3.3 The accessibility of going out for a run in running shoes is great and helps with weight loss (equipment is cheap and you can sell your cycling gear).
- Cycling is fun, and running is heart rate and mental training - That's it -
