Over the past two years, there have been 103 cases of phishing scams impersonating overseas missions and consular safety call centers. Most of the damage occurred in the Americas region, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is advising victims to report to local investigative authorities when they receive reports. It is also sharing information on overseas phishing crimes with domestic investigative agencies and working to apprehend and prevent them. Recently, the Consular Safety Call Center has improved its safety by displaying 'Consular Safety Call Center' caller information when calling citizens. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs should work with the National Police Agency to develop measures to apprehend phishing scammers and prevent damage.
