[2026 AP Exam Prep] "If you've prepared for the March MCQ, your score will ultimately come down to the FRQ." April FRQ Intensive Class Launches!

With AP exams coming up, when I consult with students, there's one thing I hear most often. "I'm okay with multiple choice" "I've almost organized all the concepts" But the actual test results are different.

What determines the score is not multiple choice but FRQ (Free Response Question),
in other words, the free response section.

Why do students fall apart on FRQ?

Many students find that FRQ requires applying concepts from multiple units simultaneously, interpreting the problem situation, and writing in a logically structured manner.

As a result, what you actually know and what you can write according to the guidelines become completely different dimensions. "Knowing it" and "being able to write it" are completely different abilities.

What are the actual problems students face?

This is the most common pattern we see in the field. * I know the answer but can't write it * * Keywords come to mind but I can't form sentences * * Not enough time to finish writing * * The content is correct but I don't get the score *

This is not simply a matter of skill.

The Most Important Point is that the majority of students "write without knowing the grading criteria"
AP FRQ is not a test you take by intuition. The grading criteria are clear points are awarded based on keywords and if the structure is incorrect, points are not given.

So even if students write the same content some students receive points while others do not

In the end, there is one key point.

FRQ is not a writing test but a "test of matching grading criteria"

Why This Moment in April is Important

Right now

  • Concept learning is nearly complete

  • Multiple-choice practice has also progressed to some extent

is the case.

But what about FRQ?

Most students have not been sufficiently trained.

That is why we conduct separate intensive FRQ classes for the necessary subjects

The key is just one thing.

"Training to create points on the exam"

The Core of Paul Academy's FRQ Class

1️⃣ Focus on "Problems You're Seeing for the First Time"

FRQ is not a repetitive problem. The exam always features new problems.

So we mark repeating existing issues as " X " and addressing new issues as " O " and proceed accordingly.

2️⃣ Instructor Feedback-Centered Classes

FRQ cannot be solved by studying alone.

Because why I got it wrong, how to fix it, and what expressions are needed

are difficult to know on your own.

So the classes are conducted centered on instructor feedback and lectures

3️⃣ Scoring Criteria-Based Training

Keyword-focused answer writing Structured sentence composition Removing point-deduction elements

Not simply "writing well" but training to create "answers that receive points" is what we do.

4️⃣ Actual Exam Time Training

FRQ is a battle against time.

Writing within the time limit Training to write only the essentials Strategy of selection and focus

We will proceed together up to this point.

Class Operation Method

  • Intensive operation from April until just before the exam

  • Use problems with actual exam difficulty level

  • Provide feedback for every class

  • Rewriting and repetitive training

This is essential for these types of students

✔ Students who understand the concepts but don't get good scores

✔ Students who do well on multiple-choice but are anxious

✔ Students who lose points on written answers

✔ Students aiming to go from 4 to 5 points
